Are you concerned about the impact Covid-19 is having on socially isolated people in your community? Perhaps you know someone who is needing some support.

Telephone Befriending offered by Warley Baptist Church.

What is ‘Growing Friendships’?

Since April, Warley Baptist Church have been providing meals to the lonely and vulnerable in the community. From the connections we have made we know that increasing numbers of people are lonely and isolated in our community.

Growing Friendships, coordinated by Carrie Pearson, Community Development Worker for Warley Baptist Church, is development of the churches' work to help our local community. As well as our meal project we are now offering a befriending service.

Who can get involved?

Anyone! It would particularly suit those who have a warm, friendly and empathetic character and can relate to people of different ages and backgrounds. Volunteers will DBS checked.

How does this project work in partnership with other agencies?

Churches, Local Authorities, and other local charities and projects are doing what they can to respond to Covid-19, and together to broaden their impact in our local community. Growing Friendships is part of the telephone befriending programme called ‘Two’s Company’. Two’s Company runs through churches across the UK to respond in a relevant way to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many people are more isolated now than ever and this approach provides a way for local people to stay in touch by telephone on a regular basis.

This is a free befriending service
