Kingswood Trust is a countryside location in South Staffordshire right on the doorstep of local communities. Our aim is to get people relaxing in many different nature spaces, to enjoy the fresh air, the seasons and to feel happy.

People naturally exercise through walking and interacting with each other and nature. Our secure, nine acre site is accessible and self-contained. This provides an amazing context for learning outdoors, communication, family days out and having fun. There are so many health benefits from being outdoors in nature as acknowledged today through social prescribing.

From Saturday 10th April we will be offering free places for people aged 65+ funded through our Nature Connections project. Up to three adults only can attend in a car and book their free car place via Eventbrite. This could be:

- a husband and wife or similar who feel lonely

- a son or daughter bringing mum and dad

- a carer bringing two people from a care home

- a friend bringing someone with dementia

They would be able to go for a walk, join in an outdoor activity, meet other people and eventually as lockdown lifts, engage in some indoor activities such as crafts, music, photographs and memory boxes. Our aim is to explore different ways of connecting older people to nature for improved health and to meet others.

Our staff and some of our volunteers have completed dementia awareness training and we hold the dementia friendly badge.

We are also looking for groups who would benefit from bespoke days too, this might be from an organisation that supports older people, a local community group or a care home. On such days our walks will follow set trails to incorporate features such as the old gate posts and willow structures. We may even have a campfire to sit round for discussion and reflection times as well as for outdoor cooking.

There are many opportunities to engage with wildlife too at the Kingswood Trust, we have a bird hide and a range of trees in our woodland areas and seasonal flora. We have bat, bee and hedgehog habitats installed. Groups can enjoy animal encounter opportunities with our sheep, hens, tortoises, rabbits and guinea pigs.

As part of the visit will provide you with a free drink and cake, enjoyed outdoors in the good weather and indoors when we can.

We are located in South Staffordshire, on the A451 near Albrighton, close to Codsall, Perton and Pattingham.
