A guest blog from Wolverhampton Places of Welcome Coordinator Gail Reynolds

Becoming a 'Place of Welcome' was a no brainer for Stratton Street Methodist Church Community Centre. Community is at the heart of everything we strive to achieve.

Two things that are guaranteed are a warm welcome and a complimentary cuppa and bickie to anyone who walks through our doors.

I realised that we share very similar principles to those of Places of Welcome. We have lovely helpful volunteers, some of whom were originally service users. They are a mine of information when it comes to the local area. Staff and volunteers alike are happy to offer support, share information, experiences and skills; yet more often than not, the most valuable assets they share are companionship, friendship and a sense of belonging.

Place of Welcome once a week was great, but we are lucky enough to be able open our Community Centre five days per week. How could we not be a Place of Welcome for the other 4 days ?
