Citizens Advice Wolverhampton

During the new, current lockdown, Citizens Advice Wolverhampton is not able to provide any face to face services. If someone is able to make the claim for Universal Credit online but they need some guidance, for example, on how to complete particular sections of the online form then they can get help by ringing the Universal Credit Help to Claim line (0800 144 8448). More generally, people can go to the following Citizens Advice (Get Help Applying for Universal Credit) webpage: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/claiming/helptoclaim/.

The Citizens Advice national helpline (Adviceline) is still operating. The number to ring is: 0800 144 8848 (Textphone: 18001 0800 144 8884). This is a freephone number and replaces the number beginning 0344. Also, people can still access general information e.g. debt and consumer helpline by visiting: www.citizensadvice.org.uk.

If someone is in need of absolute crisis advice in Wolverhampton because they:

  • have no food or fuel
  • are suffering domestic abuse
  • have been given a court date in the next 28 days
  • are due to be evicted within the next 28 days
  • have been directly contacted by bailiffs
  • have been unfairly dismissed
  • have had their benefits stopped and as a result they have no source of income

then they should text their name and a brief message to: 07525 844 112 or email: enquiries@wolverhamptoncitizensadvice.com. Someone will then call or email back.

If someone has debt issues (e.g. bailiff visits, magistrates court fines, rent or mortgage arrears or council tax arrears) then the number to ring or text is: 07850 209 529. They will be able to leave a message and someone will call them back. Alternatively, they may email:debtadvice@wolverhamptoncitizensadvice.com
