Disabled Facilities Grant - Promoting Independence

Do you know about the Disabled Facilities Grant which is available to disabled residents throughout Staffordshire to fund adaptations to enable them to live safely in their own homes for longer? Staffordshire Moorlands District Council would like to increase the uptake of these grants as they are still not as high as they would like and are certain that many more people could retain their independence with adaptations.

There has also traditionally been a high drop out rate when applicants are assessed as self-funders or having to contribute towards their adaptation. To help reduce this, and in turn to help reduce falls and accidents in the home, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council have agreed to waive the means test for simple case, stand-alone stairlifts or level access showers meaning more people can benefit.
