Bereavement kindness tips for you

Dudley public health has today launched a bereavement kindness toolkit, created with input from local community support groups.

The one-page toolkit has been published to coincide with National Grief Awareness Week, which runs from 2 – 8 December.

It is aimed at everyone who knows someone who has been bereaved. It gives them both the tools and confidence to approach and support the person who is grieving.

It’s full of practical tips and sensitive ways of helping or talking to someone who is dealing with the death of a loved one.

As well as gaining insight from local community support groups, the toolkit has been officially endorsed by two national bereavement support organisations: The Muslim Bereavement Support Service, and At A Loss.

Dudley Public Health gave special thanks to volunteers at the Hope House Place of Welcome in Lower Gornal, TCT’s Carrie Blount - Places of Welcome and Buddying Facilitator and volunteers at Mary Stevens Hospice for giving their thoughts, and to everyone else who provided their feedback for this toolkit.
